Thank you for booking with Pool Safe Fence Inspections. We just need you to follow the three steps below.

By providing this additional information we hope to ensure your barrier is compliant prior to the initial inspection as re-inspections do incur an additional cost.

The cost for initial inspection is $360 + GST and is required on the day of inspection by cash or eftpos. If a re-inspection is required this will incur an additional fee.
We thank you again for booking with Pool Safe Fence Inspections.

STEP ONE

To finalise your booking please email us your council registration letter with ‘date of construction’ and the ‘applicable barrier standard’.

Email to jimmy@poolsafevic.com.au

PLEASE NOTE: The letter must include the date of construction of your pool/spa and the ‘applicable barrier standard’ (some recent reminder letters do not have this information - example below). We are unable to conduct the inspection without having the letter 24 hours prior to the inspection. If you can not find your letter, council can re-issue you another.

STEP TWO

We highly recommend you complete the VBA self assessment checklist prior to your inspection. Follow the link below to the checklist.

STEP THREE

Please look over the notes and diagrams below as they contain important information about your inspection.

The rules regarding safety barriers enforced by the VBA are lengthy and complex, the VBA checklist focuses on only the major areas of concern including barrier heights, clearance areas around barriers etc. It does not cover all of the rules.

Here are a couple of diagrams of areas where common issues are found in pools and spas we have inspected in Ballarat and surrounds.

We are finding the majority of barriers are failing initial inspection. A lot of the failed inspections are due to growing vegetation and areas around the barrier being altered. We have also found barriers that have been initially signed off during the permit stage with non compliances. For this reason we ask owners to read the information provided, take note of the diagrams and read the VBA checklist (link above) to allow the opportunity for certification at the first inspection.
